Take the theory course online and complete the practical training at your own workplace with a competent mentor, such as a colleague, friend, or coworker. Practice controlling the equipment, starting and stopping it safely, and the tasks you will be performing. Your employer will document the training and assess your skills before you begin working independently.
The instructor must be able to teach the safe use of a chainsaw and be familiar with the tasks you will be practicing. The person does not need to have taken our course. Use the appropriate chainsaw and follow the user manual. The participant must demonstrate safe control, starting, stopping, working posture, and relevant chainsaw operations. Advanced or complicated felling tasks require special expertise and supervision.
