Online MEWP course – personnel lifts 3A and 3B

This lift course provides thorough theoretical training in the safe use of personnel lifts. This course is suitable for anyone who will be using, ordering, monitoring, or assisting with work involving aerial lifts in construction, manufacturing, warehousing, operations, maintenance, cleaning, event planning, and other industries.

Take the theory course online—practice using the lift at work

Complete the training locally with a qualified mentor, such as a colleague or coworker with the necessary MEWP training. The mentor will demonstrate, and you will practice controlling, positioning, operating, and using the emergency functions of the specific MEWP. Your employer will document the training and assess your skills before you use the lift independently.

The mentor does not need to have taken our course. The training must cover the lift group and the lift you will be using. Follow the user manual, review local hazards, and practice emergency lowering and relevant rescue procedures. Training in personal fall protection equipment is included when the user manual and the work require it.

Who needs a lift training course?

The employer must provide the necessary training when employees use work equipment that requires special care. For personnel lifts, this normally includes theory, practical training for the relevant group or type, and an equipment-specific review of the lift that will actually be used.

Theory first—practice on the right lift

The online course covers the theoretical portion and concludes with a knowledge test. See the practical section for instructions on how to complete the practical training locally.

Course Certificate

After completing the theory course and passing the knowledge test, the participant receives a digital certificate for the theory portion. The employer documents the practical and equipment-specific training separately.

Working at Heights and Fall Protection

Working with a lift involves working at heights. The need for personal fall protection equipment must be determined based on the lift’s operating instructions, work methods, and risk assessment. When the work involves a risk of falling or the use of personal fall protection equipment, we also recommend our course on working at heights and fall protection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the course cover lift classes 3A and 3B?

Can I use the lift after just the online course?

Do I have to use fall protection in a lift?

This is determined by the lift’s operating instructions, the work method, and the risk assessment. For boom lifts, a short lanyard and proper anchoring are often important for reducing the risk of being thrown from the lift.

How long is the course certificate valid?

There is no general, fixed expiration date. New or updated training may be necessary in the event of new equipment, changes in job duties, lack of practical experience, or other circumstances that affect one’s competence.
