Hands-on training can be conducted locally with a mentor who has the necessary expertise regarding fall protection equipment and work methods. Practice checking, adjusting, connecting, and moving safely. When using personal fall protection, you must also plan for and practice relevant rescue procedures. The employer must document the training and assess the employees’ skills.
The mentor can be a qualified colleague or partner and does not need to have taken our course. The exercises are adapted to the actual equipment, anchors, fall clearance, and local hazards. Use collective belaying whenever possible. A planned rescue must be feasible with the people and equipment available.
