Online Diisocyanate Course – Theory Section According to REACH
For professional use of products containing at least 0.1 percent by weight of monomeric diisocyanates, documented training is required prior to use. Examples of such products include PU foam, adhesives, paint, varnish, sealant, and industrial mixtures.

When the REACH requirement applies, online training must be combined with verbal dialogue and the opportunity to ask questions of an expert on diisocyanates. The employer determines the appropriate level of training and provides on-site instruction regarding the products, work methods, and personal protective equipment. A standard mentoring program alone does not satisfy the expert requirement.
The expert must have documented expertise in occupational health and safety and diisocyanates. The employer must document the training and ensure that it is renewed at least every five years, in accordance with REACH requirements. This theoretical course does not automatically include expert consultation.

Important: E-learning alone is not enough
When REACH requirements apply, e-learning is combined with verbal dialogue and the opportunity to ask questions of an expert on diisocyanates. See the procedure in the "In Practice" section.
Course Certificates and Documentation
After completing the theory portion and passing the test, the participant will receive a certificate of completion for the online course. The course certificate alone does not document the entire REACH training. Complete documentation must also include, among other things, who provided the training and the expert’s qualifications, the topics covered and duration, the format of the training, the date, and the approved results.
Who does this requirement apply to?
This requirement applies to employers, employees, and self-employed individuals who use or handle covered products in a professional capacity. This applies regardless of industry and how often the product is used. Check the substance index and the safety data sheet; products below the threshold or other forms of isocyanates may be subject to different training requirements.
