Who is this program for?
This program is suitable for adults who have worked for a long time in a trade but have not followed a standard training path. The Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training describes the practical candidate program as a documentation process, not a training program.
How much practice do you need?
As a general rule, you must complete a comprehensive internship that is at least 25 percent longer than the prescribed training program for the subject. The requirement therefore varies by subject. The county government determines whether the content and duration of the internship can be approved.
Here's how to do it
- Choose the right apprenticeship program.
- Gather work certificates and other documentation related to the internship.
- Ask the county government to review this practice.
- Pass the written exam at the Vg3 level and any additional exams required for the course.
- Register for the vocational or journeyman's exam once you have met the requirements.
- Pass the exam. The county government issues the vocational certificate or journeyman's certificate.
